The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a full-time, probationary position leading to a tenure decision at the rank of Assistant Professor. The department expects to hire a specialist in Statistics with a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, or closely related field.
All areas of probability and statistics will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates committed to establishing a strong research program with an emerging national/international reputation; Demonstrated or potential publication record in recognized premier journals; Interest in research interactions with the Statistics faculty;
Committed to excellence in statistics and probability education at the undergraduate through graduate level and desire to participate in an environment comprising significant cultural diversity; Potential service to the Statistics Program and Department.
The Department has 6 faculty members in statistics, offers B.S, M.S., and PhD degrees in Statistics, and also administers the Statistics Clinic. The university is in close proximity to Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Many faculty members have research ties with these and other institutions.
