Regalia is optional, however most PhD students do choose to wear the cap and gown as they are hooded by their dissertation chairs.

You may purchase these at the Bookstore--be sure to purchase the correct regalia for the College of Arts and Science.  All others may dress in what Jenison calls your "Sunday" best or if you have a preference for ethnic garments please feel free to wear those.

We would like to produce a PowerPoint slide of each graduate
and show it as you cross the stage.

Here's how it works:

Please send us:
A text message: some possible examples might be

(1) Thanks, Mom and Dad
(2) a proverb
(3) short poem
(4) acknowledgments
(5) a favorite quote

We would also like to include a picture (or picture montage) with the text.

Some possible picture ideas:
a. a collage or other personal art work
b. your web homepage
c. a picture of yourself (we can take your picture with our digital camera)
d. a picture of your family
e. a picture of a favorite pet

If you are unable to provide a picture, we can use one of the stock campus images we have collected.

You get the idea.

If you send us a picture, it could be in any standard graphics format: gif, jpg, png etc. You can email the image as an attachment and we will do the rest. If you have a photograph you want scanned, just bring it by the Math and Stat department; we will scan it for you. The address to email the image is scoke@math.unm.edu or bring it by the office.

Please be creative, but remember that there will be lots of grandmothers in the audience, so keep the photos appropriate. The Math & Stat Department's staff will work with you if we have any questions on your material. If you don't send us anything, we will print your name and some of the information you submit to us. We will give you an opportunity to review your page before the ceremony.
