Event Description:

We introduce the definition and the main properties of Lorentz spaces, starting by the notion of rearrangement of a function. Lorentz spaces, usually denoted as L^{p,q} spaces, are function spaces affected by two indexes and they are generalization of the ordinary L^p  spaces. They also coincide, for q=\infty, with the so-called L^p weak spaces. We illustrate the basic properties of such spaces and their prominent role in Harmonic Analysis and PDEs.

Partially Supported by Efroymson Fund.
