Event Description:

Title: Reducibility in Sasakian Geometry

ABSTRACT: For dimensional reasons a product of Sasaki manifolds cannot be Sasaki. So the analog of a non-trivial de Rham decomposition in K\"ahlerian geometry is that of a reducible Sasakian structure. I will discuss the recent definition of a reducible Sasakian structure by He and Sun, and describe its relation with the Sasaki join operation previously developed with Galicki and Ornea. I then discuss its connection with the multifoliate structures of Kodaira and Spencer. My talk is based on joint work with H. Huang, E. Legendre, and C. Tonnesen-Friedman.
