1998 IMACS Conference on Applications of Computer Algebra

Special Session:
Dynamical Systems and Mechanics

Session Organizers:

This session is intended to discuss computer algebra methods in view of investigating and constructing solutions of Dynamical Systems and corresponding Mechanical problems. Since nonlinear dynamical systems, generally, can not be exactly solved, the role of computer algebra preanalysis for the numerical methods has a special interest. From this point of view creation of approximating solutions of the systems in symbolic form is one of power methods to investigate the behavior of solutions.

Topics:
- Stability and Bifurcation Analysis of Dynamical Systems;
- Investigation of limit cycles;
- Symbolic Integration of ODEs;
- Construction of Approximate Solutions, Comparison of Carleman linearization, Poincare-Lindstedt, Normal form etc. methods;
- Construction of Normal forms;
- Construction and investigation of formal integrals of dynamical systems;
- Non-Holonomic Systems;
- Symplectic Integration of Hamiltonian Systems;
- Semi-numerical algorithms;
- Applications CA methods to Mechanics, Mechanical Engineering and Control theory.
