M. Spiridonova, A. Gerov, M. Nisheva-Pavlova

We present briefly the main results of the computer algebra research group of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences in the field of computer algebra applications. The group was formed in 1980 as a part of the Software Department. In 1985 Artificial Intelligence Department of the Institute was established and the computer algebra group became a part of this Department.

The presentation includes different aspects of our results:

- Use of Computer Algebra Systems (CAS) for solving of particular problems (at the beginning);

- Development of special purpose CAS and packages using SAC-2, Reduce, Maple and Mathematica;

- Our conceptions of Intelligent CAS and some projects and implementations based on these conceptions;

- National and International activities of the group (seminars, conferences, collaboration with JINR-Dubna, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, INRIA-France, etc.);

- University courses on CAS, graduate and postgraduate thesises.

The considered results are published in more than 60 papers.
