A. Cavallone*, C. D'Apice*, M. Marsella, S. Salerno (Italy), dapice@diima.unisa.it A didactical laboratory: image filtering Fixed images can adequately be represented in mathematical form like functions f(x,y) of two variable x and y, space co-ordinates that characterise several points in the plan of the image, where f is the level of gray in such points, or the reference to a data structure that contains information on the three fundamental colours of images. The aim of this work is to create a virtual laboratory by which it is possible to carry out experiments on the images filtering. In such a way teachers are able to introduce students to some mathematical functions, as the Fast Fourier Transform, that otherwise would seem abstract.
