A Counting Problem using Computer Algebra and Math Reform Techniques

A counting problem with many different formulations will be discussed.  Central
to the discussion will be the role computer algebra and math reform techniques
played in the course of solving the problem.  Teachers of mathematics who use
math reform techniques have asserted the effectiveness of these methods in
process of discovery.  To be presented here is at least one instance of an
emphatic reply, "Yes! You are right."
