The Interaction of Computer Algebra Systems and Course Management Systems in Teaching Business Calculus at the American College of Thessaloniki Panos Vlachos, Ph.D Chair, Division of Technology & Science, American College of Thessaloniki Emmanuel Maou, Associate Professor, Division of Technology & Science, American College of Thessaloniki In this talk we present the advantages of the joint use of computer algebra systems and course management systems in teaching Business Calculus at the American College of Thessaloniki. This is part of a project funded by the Andrew Mellon foundation whose aim is to implement these technologies in the educational process. The talk presents our classroom experience and focuses on: The use of the Computer Algebra system (MathCAD) in applying the Harvard Calculus Reform approach. The use of the Course Management System (Blackboard) in the organization of the course, the delivery of instructional material, student formal assessment and student's self-assessment. The integration of the two technologies to improve student learning and mastery of the course material.
