The many meanings of 3-core partitions

Abstract:
Core partitions, which first arose in the representation theory of the symmetric group, are now studied from many points of view, including combinatorial methods and modular forms. In this talk we will introduce core partitions, explain their history, and show a new combinatorial interpretation of a result of G. Han and K. Ono on 3-core partitions. [This is joint work with O.
