Two Applications of Macsyma in General Relativity ------------------------------------------------- Richard Petti Macsyma Inc. This presentation surveys two applications of Macsyma to computations in general relativity. The first application is a derivation of Einstein-Cartan theory from general relativity as a continuum limit of an ensemble of Kerr-Newman black holes. Macsyma is used to compute the connection coefficients of the Kerr Newman solution (charged rotating black hole) with frame fields. The second application is a derivation of the Klein Gordon Lagrangian as the scalar curvature of a connection with complex conformal nonmetricity. Macsyma is used for several computations in this application, most importantly to compute the scalar curvature in the presence of complex conformal nonmetricity.
