Title: Problem Solving Environments for Differential Equations Organizers: Robert van Engelen, engelen@nu.cs.fsu.edu Stanly Steinberg, stanly@math.unm.edu Abstract: This session will focus on problem solving environments (PSEs) that are designed to help users solve and understand the solutions of differential equations: - research in architecture, design, and methodology of PSEs - innovative solution methods - database and expert system technology for PSEs - application-specific PSEs - PSEs for high-performance and distributive computing (CORBA, MPI, OpenMP) - code synthesis, data-structure selection, and library composition methods for solving differential equations - simulation environments for differential-equation-based models - visualization - Web technology (Java, HTML, XML, mobile agents)
