The conference gala dinner will take place in the central square of
Milies, a village on mountain Pelio, about 20 kms away from Volos.
To get there we will take buses to the railway station of the Greek
TGV (bullet train), located in the village Ano Lehonia.
There we will board the 4-cars train and
at a speed of about 20 km/h we will go up the mountain.
Some of us might have to stand during the ride
(there are only 132 seats available) but its worth it.
The trip lasts about an hour and the view of the surrounding landscape
is one of the most beautiful one can find in Greece (See pics.)
The rail track and the bridges were built by the father of the famous
Italian artist
Giorgio de Chirico,
who was actually born in Volos.
Once in Milies we will walk up the cobbled paths (kalderimi)
to the central square of the village.
There, under some age-old trees and with a
panoramic view of the sea below we will have dinner.
After dinner we will board on buses to take us back to Volos.
