CALL FOR PAPERS --------------- Journal ------- Mathematics and Computers in Simulation Special Issue on ---------------- Applications of Computer Algebra in Science, Engineering, Simulation and Special Software Guest Editors ------------- Michael Wester, Elizabeth A. Arnold, Patrizia Gianni, Ilias S. Kotsireas, Eugenio Roanes-Lozano, Stanly Steinberg Aim --- This special issue of _Mathematics and Computers in Simulation_ (MatCom) will contain selected papers from the conferences ACA'2001 (Albuquerque, NM, USA) and ACA'2002 (Volos, Greece) that emphasize computer algebra applications. Computer Algebra has found applications in many domains of science such as Applied and Theoretical Mathematics, Computer Science, Biology, Medicine ... as well as Engineering, Social Sciences ... According to the MatCom web page: http://authors.elsevier.com/journal/matcom this journal is devoted to an audience of "Simulation Specialists, Applied Mathematicians, Statisticians and Systems Analysts". Thus, some of the topics explicitly covered by the journal are contained in the title of this special issue. Therefore, this CFP is directed to papers with a strong "applied" component. It is suggested that authors of theoretical papers about Computer Algebra or where a Computer Algebra System is only used at a certain step to perform some auxiliary calculations, submit their papers elsewhere. Please observe that the deadlines in this CFP are the same for those in the Special volume of JSC (also) containing papers from ACA'2001 and ACA'2002. Please avoid double submissions of the same paper. It is up to the authors to decide which of the special issues they wish to submit. Calls for papers from JSC and this notice can be found at http://math.unm.edu/~aca/ACA/Publish/publish.html Submission Guidelines --------------------- Papers must be submitted to any of the guest editors. They must be prepared using the LaTeX Class File Elsart.cls, which can be obtained from http://authors.elsevier.com/journal/matcom When using bibtex, use the file elsart_num.bst http://www.elsevier.com/locate/latex The recommended paper length is 15 pages (using Elsart.cls)-- longer papers must be justifed by the importance of their content. Electronic submissions are encouraged, and may be sent as one email (MIME attachments are allowed). The message should contain (i) the abstract in ASCII and (ii) the whole paper in Postscript. The Postscript form must be interpretable by Ghostscript, and must use standard fonts, or include the necessary fonts. Authors who cannot meet these requirements should submit 5 hard copies by post instead. All submitted papers will be refereed according to the usual refereeing process. To help in estimating the number of papers that will be submitted, we would appreciate an email expressing the intention to submit a paper (including author information, a tentative title and abstract, and an estimated number of pages) as early as possible. Important Dates --------------- Submission of papers: December 30, 2002 Deadline extension January 15, 2003 Notification of acceptance/rejection: June 30, 2003 Delivery of final LaTeX file: September 30, 2003 Publication of special issue: 2004 Guest Editors' Addresses ------------------------ Elizabeth A.
