Calculator policy

A non-symbolic graphing calculator is required for this course. The  instructors will use the TI-83 Plus in class and can only help you  with this particular calculator. Other non-symbolic calculators are acceptable. If you wish to use a calculator not on the list given below you need to check with your instructor.

The graphing calculator will be needed for some homework problems  and quizzes. On the exams you will in general not need a calculator and you may not use it to obtain your answers (unless instructed otherwise). Instead, you have to show all steps from which you obtain your answer, as described in the Grading Guidelines. You may however use the calculator to check your answers.  (Do so only if you have time to make any necessary corrections.)

Your TA may request that you not use the calculator on some of the quizzes.

Acceptable calculators: TI-81, TI-82, TI-83, TI-83 Plus, TI-84, TI-85, TI-86
Unacceptable calculators: TI-89, TI-92, HP-48, HP-49, any symbolic calculator
