Michael Wester

``That may be true,'' he acknowledged, ``but it's completely accurate, and as long as the answer is right, who cares if the question is wrong? If you want sense, you'll have to make it yourself.''

My favorite mathematical expression.
My favorite mathematical picture: the level curves of the 3D surface of
    z = sin(x + y) sin(x - y) / tan-1(x2 - y) = (cos y2 - cos x2) / tan-1(x2 - y),
   which I denote "the lobo function" as it resembles the University of New Mexico mascot.
Some photographs that I have taken.
A photo of me in Four Windows Lava Tube, El Malpais, New Mexico
   (taken by Kenneth Ingham)--the silvery flecks are the microbe actinomycetes.
A photo of me "jawboning" in Raleigh, North Carolina (taken by Eugenio Roanes-Lozano).
What is a Ph.D. worth? The answer I learned in St. Kitts!
The meaning of life, the universe and everything.
My vita (for those that care about that kind of thing).
