Toro's Lecture Notes

The 9th NMAS meeting will be held April 6-8 at the University of New Mexico, in Albuquerque. The conference is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

The campus is located approximately two miles east of downtown Albuquerque, two miles north of the Albuquerque International Airport, and 10 miles west of the Sandia mountains, which border the eastern edge of the city.

Albuquerque provides a unique blend of historic attractions, multi-culturalism, outdoor activities, and native cuisine, and serves as a gateway to the nearby cities of Santa Fe, Taos, Acoma, and the numerous pueblos of the Rio Grande Valley.

Early Spring weather in the high-desert environment surrounding Albuquerque tends to be cool and dry during the day (low to mid 60's), but with cold evenings (low 50's).

The conference headquarters will be at the Hiway House Motel. This is a modest motel that is very well located at walking distance from the university in the Nob Hill area. It is surrounded by coffee houses, restaurants, bars, little stores, the only non-commercial movie house (The Guild) in town, local organic Co-op (La Montanita), etc.
