Title: What's up with pair operations?

Abstract: Pair operations are a generalization of closure operations. In this talk, we will go through what closure operations are and some ways they are used, what that has to do with inner product spaces, and how that leads us to consider pair operations. We will see how requiring a pair operation to satisfy just two given properties can force it to be either constant or the identity.
