The Department partnership with Campersand was featured by the College in an uplifting article published on September 5th, 2023 "Future STEM leaders have their love for Math nurtured at Campersand ".

This summer, kids throughout Albuquerque with a love for math got to engage in a truly unique camp experience, thanks to the Department of Mathematics & Statistics. From July 24-28, the Science and Mathematics Learning Center (SMLC) came alive with 47 campers aged 9-16, and their adults, for the 2023 CAMP for Algorithmic Mathematical Play, or Campersand.  

This year, for the first time,  Campersand offered several scholarships to winners of the UNM-PNM Statewide Math Competition  to attend the summer program. Our own Statistics Professor and Director of the UNM-PNM Math Contest, James Degnan, was one of the instructors in the summer camp. 

We hope this partnership continues in years to come!!!
