Professor Terry Loring has been elected a 2020 Fellow of the American Mathematical Society
For contributions to K-theory for operator algebras, for applications in theoretical physics, and for interdisciplinary work involving computer science, quantum chemistry and condensed matter physics.
The Fellows of the American Mathematical Society program recognizes members who have made outstanding contributions to the creation, exposition, advancement, communication, and utilization of mathematics.
This is great honor! Congratulations Terry!
Professor Loring joins UNM Professor Alex Buium a 2016 Fellow of the AMS (For contributions to number theory and algebraic geometry, particularly the development of a theory of arithmetic differential equations) and UNM Emeritus Professor Charles Boyer a 2013 Inaugural Class of Fellows.
UNM has 3 of the 5 AMS Fellows in NM (the other two are one from NMSU and the other from Santa Fe Institute).
