Title: Operations and operators on commutative rings

Abstract: In this talk I will give a sampling of some of my recent research projects.  In particular, I will briefly introduce closure operations, interior operations and more generally pair operations.  I will also discuss differential operators in the setting of affine semigroup rings.  For both topics, I will discuss some of the compelling results and work that I have done with students.
