About the Speaker: David Cruz-Uribe, OFS, is the chair of the Department of Mathematics at the University of Alabama.  Prior to joining the faculty there, he held positions at Purdue University and Trinity College.  He received his Ph.D. in 1993 from UC Berkeley under the direction of Donald Sarason.  Professor Cruz-Uribe’s research interests are in harmonic analysis, especially weighted norm inequalities, extrapolation theory, variable Lebesgue spaces, and applications to PDE.  His work has been supported by the NSF and he served as a foreign investigator on research grants through the Ministry of Science in Spain.  Professor Cruz-Uribe has given numerous mini-courses internationally and serves on the editorial boards of 5 different journals.
